Webb County’s new judge, Louis H. Bruni, was sworn in Wednesday morning in front of a crowd of over 100 people. State, county and city officials, among many other county staff members and general public, looked on as state Senator Judith Zaffirini administered the oath of office to Bruni at the Webb County Commissioners Courthouse.

“Today, on Jan. 1, we celebrate the beginning of the term of a great leader who will look forward as he looks back. He will learn from the past, and offer us a great new beginning as we begin a new year.”
Zaffirini, whose husband was Bruni’s transition team chairman, said the county has a new team that will unite city, county, state and federal governments.
The senator gave Bruni a new state senate gavel and explained that this is the third one she has given to the county judge. The first when Bruni was mayor pro tempore, and the second when he was the Webb Appraisal District’s board chairman.
